What is Performance Improvement (PI) ACS CME?
A structured, AMA-standardized educational format that allows cardiologists and emergency medicine physicians to self-assess current practice methods through performance measures; apply learned strategies to patient care; re-evaluate performance; summarize resulting practice, process, and/or outcome changes; and earn a maximum of 20 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.

Participate by completing 3 simple stages through “MY PI,” an online transcript customized for participants. Your CME credit will be awarded immediately after completing each stage.

- You will be assigned a PI personal assistant from the Med-IQ concierge team whom you can contact by phone, e-mail, or fax for any help you may need completing the program.
- Your department’s education nursing staff or quality improvement personnel may be available to help you pull charts and enter data online for Stages A, B, and C.
STAGE A
Earn 5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ immediately after you:
Self-assess your current practice through chart reviews.
- Pull ACS patient charts.
- Complete and submit a one-page patient data collection form for each patient (by fax).
- Review automatically generated reports on MY PI based on information provided in your patient data forms.
- Self-assess your current performance using predetermined benchmarks.
Available: November 2008
STAGE B
Earn 5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ immediately after you:
- Participate in a Webcast related to the areas that you identify for improvement.
- Write and submit an implementation plan indicating how you will improve your practice within the benchmark areas (online or by fax).
Available: Early 2009, after completing Stage A
STAGE C
Earn 5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ immediately after you:
Self-asses and summarize resulting practice or process changes.
- Pull charts for ACS patients you have seen after implementing your improvement plan for 3 months.
- Complete and submit data collection forms for each patient as in Stage A (online or by fax).
- Assess changes in performance by reviewing automatically generated reports on MY PI based on information provided in your new patient data forms to assess changes in performance.
- Complete an evaluation form.
