PURPOSE STATEMENT

Minimizing Diabetic Cardiovascular Complications: The Role of Rapid- and Long-Acting Insulin in Maintaining Consistent Glycemic Control will discuss the impact of diabetes and uncontrolled glycemia on cardiovascular risk, and how insulin analogs can be used to maintain glycemic control in diabetic patients.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss elevated cardiovascular risk as a complication of diabetes
  • Describe the value of tight glycemic control, including basal and post-prandial glucose levels, in managing cardiovascular risk
  • Evaluate the role of insulin, both rapid- and long-acting analogs, in controlling glycemia in diabetic patients

TARGET AUDIENCE

Minimizing Diabetic Cardiovascular Complications: The Role of Rapid- and Long-Acting Insulin in Maintaining Consistent Glycemic Control is intended for primary healthcare professionals, including physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, and pharmacists, as well as for other specialists and healthcare providers who are interested in the management of patients with diabetes.
