PURPOSE STATEMENT
Osteoporosis-Related Fractures: Evaluating the Role of Pharmacotherapy will evaluate clinical trial data to discuss the role of pharmacologic therapy in managing patients with, or at risk for, osteoporotic fractures.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Describe the mechanism of action of pharmacologic agents that prevent and treat osteoporosis.
- Discuss the route of administration, dosing schedule, efficacy and safety of various treatment options for vertebral and nonvertebral fractures.
- Elaborate on the results of trials investigating the combined and sequential use of these agents.
- Incorporate this information into individualized, evidence-based treatment plans for patients with osteoporosis.
TARGET AUDIENCE
Osteoporotic Fractures: Evaluating the Role of Pharmacotherapy is intended for primary healthcare professionals, including physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, and pharmacists, as well as for other specialists and healthcare providers who are interested in the management of patients with osteoporosis.
